Michael Craig-Martin: NOW.
China Touring exhibition (2015)

Organised by Holtermann Fine Art in collaboration with Gagosian Gallery as part of the 2015 UK-China Year of Cultural Exchange, NOW. brings together fifty new paintings and offers a unique opportunity to examine contemporary life through Michael Craig-Martin's unique visual language.

Craig-Martin's paintings typically present a single object depicted in simple shapes and bright, striking colours: a pair of scissors, a mobile phone, a skateboard, a pair of trainers, all painted on aluminium through sharp contrasts and a remarkably smooth surface. Brought together, they compose a story of our contemporary commodified existence. The artist's style of bold and precise outline demarcating vibrant panes of colours is also an exploration of the spatial qualities of painting, through the juxtaposition of layers next to one another.

This touring exhibition is the artist's first solo museum exhibition
in mainland China.
